Betting Round 4 – The River

The fourth round begins after the dealer has placed the fifth and final community card face up on the table. This card is known as the river or the 5^th street.

Each remaining player now has seven cards to form the best possible five card combination from. The best possible hand can be either:

1. Both pocket cards and three of the community cards.
2. One of the pocket cards and four of the community cards.
3. All five community cards.

The actions that can be taken are the same as during round two and three and just like before the round ends when all players have either checked, called or folded. If everyone checks, then the hand moves on to the showdown. If a player makes a bet or raise that all subsequent players fold to, then the hand ends prematurely and the betting player wins the pot. If all non folding players call a bet or raise, then the hand moves on to the showdown.
