Texas Hold'em Strategy Introduction

We will begin our journey into the world of Texas Hold'em strategy by investigating different playing styles and give you a push in the right direction. Then we will proceed to the rankings of the starting hands and follow that up by exploring the odds all the way to the showdown. The hand rankings, hand odds, definitions and concepts outlined in this part of the school form the theoretical foundation for the applied Texas Hold'em strategy that we teach in the last three parts of the school: Limit Cash Game Strategy, No Limit Cash Game Strategy and Sit N Go Strategy. Any prescribed course of action outlined in those last three parts of the school can be traced back to the theoretical and basic Texas Hold'em strategy that you are about to learn here.

Please observe that we will not go into much detail on how the rankings and odds are calculated. Being able to tell what’s good from what’s bad is enough for a beginner and anything more is beyond the scope of this school. The Texas Hold'em strategy you are about to learn is more than enough to rise above the competition and you would do well to remember that not even professional players perform advanced mathematical calculations on the fly when playing poker. They have simply memorized the most important data and that is what you must do as well.
